Shale Story

You're working in generations
Healing what's past
Breaking fallow ground
Bringing life from the lost
You break the seal of what's past!

Meander through shards of history
Rubble at a glance, life from long gone days
Listening to ocean waves, ripples from the past
Asking Lord, what does it mean? What was it for?

I'm listening, waiting here
Lord what do You want to say

We gather and build, tie the knots with our frayed strings
Shadows wax and wane
Footsteps graced alone by sun and rain
My heart still knows it's ache

I'm listening, waiting here
Lord what do you want to say
Scars fossilized, my history laid bare
While I glide on wings, a flying bird

Tracks from days past break apart with new growth
Water of life beckon these roots ever deep
These branches reach higher, over shadowy ridge
Old patterns won't hold me, grown less familiar

I'm listening, waiting here
Lord what do you want to say
Scars fossilized, my history laid bare
While I glide on wings, a flying bird
Imprints of pain, now archived
No weight on me, free to be
—

He said, "I was the farmer who plowed your heart
I planted, I watered, I warmed with my light
You're my sapling, nurtured tenderly
Crusty old days backdrop my redemption
They don't hold you, I do
Walk with me, let us see, an ancient history."
